Hi Mr. Kinney-Thank you for your help. I contacted
Microsoft and the problem is a common one...when I
downloaded the service pack, Norton Antivirus was
running. She said that Microsoft and Norton are having a
lot of problems right now and the best way to prevent
this is to uninstall any antivirus programs you have
before downloading anything from Microsoft-mainly service
packs. The lady said that about 3,000 people do this
every day and it is easy to fix.
www.microsoft.com,
search for xp home or xp professional floppy disk boot,
then download it onto 6 floppy disks. I have not yet
downloaded onto the floppy disks because this computer I
am using doesn't have a floppy drive. I will have to do
it tomorrow after work. Anyway, this should fix the
problem WITHOUT SYSTEM RESTORE!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks again!
Kim
