Stop 0x51 REGISTRY_ERROR on boot up

When I boot my Windows 2000 Pro pc it blue screens to a
Stop 0x51 REGISTRY_ERROR then restarts. I tried to apply
the hot fix from KB article 321771 but it did not work.
I also tried to run a fast repair using the 2000 CD rom
which did not work either. I can also boot into safe
mode but I don't think this is driver/hardware related
since I did not make any changes to my hardware before
this happened. Has anyone come accross this? Any ideas?
Thanks.

That is ancient. Re-Apply the current SP for newer files.

What is your SP level anyway?

You might have _failing_ hardware. RAM going bad or other.

Also see the "CAUSE:" section of KBA 329850
which might be related.

No other ideas currently.
