STOP 0x00000d1 driver_irql_not_less_or_equal

My daughter is encountering this BSOD message repeatedly. I have not been
able to duplicate it myself, but it appears in her event log dozens of times.
(Event ID 1003.) One KB article suggests checking the CPU driver, but that
driver appears to be the correct one. Another KB article says the problem
may be related to a USB port, but gives no recommended corrective action.
The computer is a Gateway laptop running XP Pro SP2. I have an identical
laptop which has never shown this problem.

Another oddity: This problem only happens when the computer is plugged into
AC power, and (so far) has only happened in her dorm room. Is this a
coincidence?

Any suggestions welcome... and thanks.

Many thanks, I'll try it. Btw, if the problem does stem from a problem
network driver, that might relate to why it only happens in her dorm, when
she's connected wirelessly (or cabled) to the UMD network??
