Comp keeps restarting over and over again!!!! Help

Icar

I'm desperate. I am. 2 days ago I just reinstalled Windows Xp SP2 and
everything was going so smoothly. 2 days of heaven. Until now as my computer
started restarting like crazy out of nothing. 3 mins after a restart and
another one follows with a BSOD and the error: "
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL ; STOP 0X000000D1 ( 0X00000002, 0X 00000000,
0X85BA2D43) .

After some research i found that this is my problem:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925922/en-us. I installed the indicated KB,
the tcpip.sys file specified in the article was created...but
afterwards.....other Reboots followed.

How can I fix this problem????

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL ; STOP 0X000000D1 ( 0X00000002, 0X
00000000, 0X85BA2D43) .
What appears on the line below what is above?

Background information on Stop Error message
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms795930.aspx

0x000000D1: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
The system attempted to access pageable memory using a kernel process
IRQL that was too high. The most typical cause is a bad device driver
(one that uses improper addresses). It can also be caused by caused by
faulty or mismatched RAM, or a damaged pagefile.

Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager? Right click on
the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties,
Hardware,Device Manager. If yes what is the Device Error code?

Try Start, Run, type "sigverif.exe" without quotes and hit OK. What
drivers are listed as unsigned? Disregard those which are not checked.

tks Gerry for your reply.

1.First of all i didn't get if your first link should have helped me with
anything.

2. There are no devices without drivers in "Device Manager"-so no yellow "?".

3. I have 2 unsigned drivers found by "sigverif.exe" and those are
A:"tifsfilt.sys" and B: "timntr.sys"

P.S.: In the blue screen the only information that I didn' understand beside
the 2 errors is smth like "begin of physical dump...physical dump complete"
or smth like this.

Tks again.

When I asked about what appeared on the line below I was thinking of
something like this:

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

STOP: 0X000000D1, 0X00000002, 0X00000000, 0XF79C1DB4

USBSTOR.SYS

Some Stop Errors have driver details like USBSTOR.SYS in the example
above.

The two unsigned drivers relate to Aconis True Image. I doubt they are
the cause of the problem.

Otherwise you can use a Kernel Debugger to identify the problematic
driver but I do not feel that I could help someone through that
procedure.

A copy of the dump report might shed some light on the problem.

Is the problem always occuring 3 minutes after you boot? This might
indicate software following an update routine.

Are there any Error Reports in the System log of Event Viewer?

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

The problem could be faulty memory. You can test the RAM.

The STOP error had no further details about it.

I restored my image created 2 days ago with Acronis True image over the C
partition and everything worked fine for a while..and then..the restarts came
back. And no they do not have a fixed interval of appeareance. They seem
totally random.

I too incline to think now that my RAM is the cause. I installed Asus PC
probe to check temperatures of my hardware..and when is clicked on "memory"
to find infos about it the system suddenly crashed. Maybe it's a
coincidence..because after restart i did the exact thing and it didn't
restarted..but still.

I'll try to find out how to use memtest...and get back to you. Tks again!

P.S: Long story short my current ram module is a noname 1gb one, and
previously I had 2x256 mb Geil ones.

I

Icar

Ok. I did the following:

1. Installed drivers for chipset
2. Installed updated drivers for onboard Lan
3. Did the memtest. It said "no errors"- twice

And i still believe it's because of RAM.

I have now a version of windows that I created 3 days as an image.
Ok...let's say that when it was created it was already corrupt. But now I
remember that when I reinstalled Windows , immediately I installed the
software for image recovery..and while the image was mounted back on C
drive....I had an error window opening and saying something like "Error ; The
computer could not connect to RPC ( remote phone call service if I remember
well) and will restart in 50 seconds" -That was a non -Sp windows version.

Then when I installed a windows with sp2, during installation the setup
could not install 4 files (can't remember their name), which were skipped.
When it reached the screen where you choose your time zone it said that
"Setup cannot continue"...restarted...but then continued and finished install
from CD.

P.S: I don't want to reinstall a fresh copy of windows. I'm too scared that
while i make my day miserable installing all the software that I need, new
restarts will follow and would of worked in vain.

What do you think?
