STOP: 0x0000008E in Win32k.sys

I've got a build that I'm finishing up for a customer.
It's down to the fine tuning, but I'm getting some
occasional, unnerving errors. The most recent occurred at
the customer's logout from Windows.

STOP ERROR - SHUT DOWN WINDOWS
***STOP: 0x0000008E,(0xC0000005), 0xBF87174F,0xED6F19E4,

dump physical memory

Although infrequent, it looks serious. Here's the system
info:

GA-7N400-L motherboard
Athlon XP 2500+ CPU
2 X Corsair CMX256A-3200 C2 256MB DDR400 DIMM
MSI GeForce 4 MX-440-T8X 64MB AGP 8X
Creative Labs Soundblaster Live! Value
Conexant 56K FaxModem
3Com PCI NIC
MSI 16X DVD-ROM
MSI 48X24X16 CD-RW DVD-ROM
Sony 3.5" floppy drive
Windows XP Home
Codegen 6039-L case with AMD-approved 350W PS

The memory is shown as compatible by the motherboard
maker. I've tested it, and it passes. I've got the recent
drivers for the video card from nVidia's site. I've set
the BIOS AGP aperture to 128 and disabled the Fast Write.
The power supply is fine. Has anyone got an idea what's
going on here? Please contact me if more info is required.

has windows identified your conexant modem correctly. i know that there is
an issue with windows xp incorrectly identifying the conexant as a best
datafax modem due to a driver issue.

It has, steve. All is showing up nicely, and everything
has its own IRQ address. The only hardware issue that
makes me nervous is the IRQ assignment for the Live! card,
which @ 3. My experience has been that Creative Live!
cards have this fanatic territorial desire for IRQ 5. And
I'm a little skeptical about the MX440-T8X card after
seeing a number of forum postings (including at MSI). But
I have a hard time believing that an nVidia video product
won't play nice with an nVidia motherboard chipset.

The ram may be compatible, but is it damaged?
Add new ram thats what I had to do.

Also if you have a RAID HD use the Promise drivers I find
there alot better.
