ECS 848P-a motherboard
Intel P4 3.2 Ghz CPU
1 GB PC3200 Ram
Maxtor 250 GB SATA harddrive
ATI Diamond StealthS100 video card
I try to do a clean install of Windows XP home edition upgrade. Everything
proceeds ok until about 18 minutes left on install, then it reboots and
starts over.
Any ideas?

Hi,

Strip the system to the bare essentials - no unnecessary peripherals or
extra drives. Reduce to only one stick of ram. Use default settings, no
overclockings.

Does your SATA setup require any special drivers?
There's a point early on in the setup where you press
f6 and give windows a disk with those drivers.

I'm sure you're not doing this, but don't hit any keys when the system says
"Hit any key to boot from the cd..." after the very first time it appears.
Let the installer keep reloading from the hard drive. It will do this
several times.
