Steam is the biggest pile of crap around!

Do you like Kazaa? Do you love the spyware that it loads up onto your PC?
Then get ready for STEAM by VALVE!!!

To play the Valve games you MUST be connected to the internet. Why? So they
can scan your hard drive for MP3's, Warez and anything else they think they
might want to delete.

By installing their software you are agreeing to give them permission to
have full access to your computer. Whenever your computer is turned on, they
can come in and change your files with the potential of completely crippling
your system.

ATI is working hand in hand with Valve by dangling the HalfLife 2 CD like a
carrot in front of their users. If you go online to order the CD you are
urged to install the Valve Premier Pack... the insidious backdoor that
allows Valve full access to your computer.

There is NO good reason to insist on an internet connection just to play a
game. If I don't choose UPDATE NOW then I do NOT want the program going and
downloading anything from anywhere! If I decide to play alone or in a LAN
game, DO NOT GO ONTO THE INTERNET! These bozo's think that they should be
able to run your whole computer just becaue you bought their game.

Whatever you do AVOID STEAM LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!

Try ZoneAlarm. You block any program's access to the internet.

Or get a decent firewall that allows some programs to access the net.

Agree 100%... ZoneAlarm SUCKS! I've seen more problems with ZoneAlarm than
any other program out there. What's worse is that when it breaks, the user
never believes it could be ZoneAlarm - until you uninstall it and "WOW!
Everything works again!"

In the UK a few years ago a few laws were passed that allowed police and
other government security agency's the right to have access to your pc and
any passwords for encrypted data email accounts etc.. that you might have. I
think this law came into affect this year or maybe last year. But still
police in the uk don't need a warrant to search you or your property that
went with the criminal justice bill many years ago. But they still use them
as a formality to look good in court as an old friend found out when they
kicked his door down looking for someone (one of his neighbours in a block
of flats) but decided to search though his stuff regardless of no warrant in
hand and then brought a warrant round about 6 hours later and they never
found the person they were looking for in his flat or anything illegal.

The ones I get with my ATI video card.
So in other words no existing game. If you can't get that fact right,
I won't bother tear apart the rest of the crap you wrote.

If our cops do that they they shoot themselves in the foot--anything
they find becomes inadmissible as evidence.

One government that needs no search warrant is the French government. A few
years ago a French judge remarked that more and more French criminals (who
watch American law shows) were complaining that there was no search warrant
and no one read them their rights. Of course those concepts only apply in
America! The judge said he loved to enlighten them!

I remember when I was a kid we took a required class in school called
"Americanism vs Communism" in which we learned about all the Very Bad
Things that Communist governments did. Found out more about law later,
turns out many of those Very Bad Things were in fact not related to
Communism at all but to the Roman law from which most legal codes in
Europe are descended, and their Badness or lack of same is debatable.

Although the French police might for their amusement start reading
criminals their rights whatever they may be. American cops seem to find
that in many cases it's a very effective threat without being
exceptionable in any way.

not quite if they find anything that's justifies the search and you end up
in court. But still I think stuff like that is quite rare they don't liked
being sued.

It's called the "fruit of the poisoned tree" principle--if the search
was illegal they could find partially eaten babies and they wouldn't be
able to get them admitted as evidence. This frustrates police no end--a
procedural screwup early in the chain of evidence can toss out
everything obtained from a long and elaborate and otherwise carefully
conducted investigation, but there were enough cases where the police
acted improperly that the courts finally cracked down--a classic case of
a few bad apples screwing things up no end for the good guys.

Uhm... if there was no existing game, what would I be downloading from that
ATI/Valve sites?

You can't find fault with my reasoning, but can't admit I'm right either?
