is there any way i can make the status bar automatically
appear without my having to go to view>status bar every
time?

also, is there a way to default the new window as a
maximized window?

lastly, is there a way i can make my bookmarks open in
the window from which i click instead of the first
original ie browser (when i have several windows open? i
know you can drag the bookmark into the window from my
links bar, but that seems like an unnecessary step.

Liz,
If your status bar disappears when opening a new IE 6 browser window:

1) With (only one) IE open, click View, select: Status Bar
2) Right-click on IE's Toolbar and select: "Lock the Toolbar"
3) Hold down the Ctrl key and click the close button (upper right)

Verify that these Registry entries exist:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Show_StatusBar"="yes"
"Show_URLinStatusBar"="yes"

[Exception]
In some cases the "Remember last window size" info becomes corrupted in the
Registry.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Window_Placement"=

Right-click on "Window_Placement" and select: Delete
Note: Remember to Export the key before editing.
