status bar problem

When I open a new browser window, the status bar doesn't
appear. I have to go to view and click on status bar. I
tried closing out the window once I did this, hoping it
would then default to this setting, but no go. how do I
set the default to display the status bar?

If your status bar disappears when opening a new IE 6 browser window:

1) With (only one) IE open, click View, select: Status Bar
2) Right-click on IE's Toolbar and select: "Lock the Toolbar"
3) Hold down the Ctrl key and click the close button (upper right)

Verify that these Registry entries exist:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Show_StatusBar"="yes"
"Show_URLinStatusBar"="yes"

In some cases the "Remember last window size" info becomes corrupted in the
Registry.
