Stating the obvious

The home page of 'http://www.pricelessware.org/' states:
"The best of the best in Windows © Freeware, as determined by the readers
of alt.comp.freeware"
Won't be true after 2004 with a change of site.
I promised myself that I wouldn't post to the Guiding Light anymore, but
I just have to read your posts. Good Time Barnie and I are going to burn
down the White House and one of your radar sites next April Fools Day,
but I wanted to clear it with you first - wouldn't want to offend a good
buddy.
We have no intentions on attacking Maine or California. We've got too
many good Canadians in Hollywood, not to mention Blinky. We will not be
taking any prisoners so you won't have to worry about demands for money,
threats of execution or other silly things like that.
Some will think this as foolish, others will see that our actions are
truly nationalistic in nature. 1. We might get lucky and eliminate
George Bush's facial tick by giving the silly fool a good scare. 2.
Those radar sites could probably use a good paint job and general
cleanup.
We've been accused by some foreigner from across the pond of sitting on
all the world's freah water. Jeez, first you steal all our good actors
and comedians, then you want our water - we Canadians have to draw the
line somewhere! Dammit, maybe we will attack Maine - I've always liked
the look of that coastline. we'll see....

sorry I even voted on that thing

My sentiment precisely. :)

While you're here. . .

Could you please tell the newsgroup what your plans are in regard to the
pricelessware.org domain?

SOS
Alan,
You wouldn't want to leave beautiful Upper New York and you know it.
Hope your political candidate fares better than mine. (finished third)
(I'm at a loss about The Guiding Light. Can things sort themselves out?
We stand to lose a lot if our site gets deep sixed.)

Why don't you mail him and ask if you can publish the answer he gave you ?
And why don't you do the same with Genna ? I'm sure all three of you can
agree on quoting at least part of the mail correspondence.

That's my: HUH? (One of them, I lost count.)

So, did they give you a yes or a no ? And please spare me your rules about
email and privacy. You and the other parties were handling things by email,
the subject of the email conversation was pricelessware.org, which according
to you belongs to the members of ACF. What's going on with 'our property' ?
You decided to take the matter into public in this newsgroup. Do things or
don't do things. Don't do things halfway.
So I'm asking you again, did Genna and/or SOS provide you with an answer ?
And if so, could you be so kind to provide us wth that answer ? Or contact
them again about which part of the email conversation can be shared with the
members of ACF so this part of the 'issues' can be cleared ?

Did I ask what their plans were? Yes, I did. Do I know the answer to
that question? No, I don't.

What part of "I do not know" don't you understand?

Susan - you were asked a question - now FFS, give an answer - or do
you crave attention so much you have to be asked 3 times ?
I suspect this issue will not move on until all concerned can behave
and discuss issues like adults.

(or am I just in a bad mood :)

The answer to the question is *NO* *COMMENT*.

<RANT>
I'm handicapped by early training in legal matters (training that took
place quite literally at my father's knee).

I was taught that private means *private* - you do not communicate
*anything* about private communications - you should not even tell
people that there has been private communication.

I'm having difficulty in adapting to Usenet. . .

"Go and have a private discussion - then come back and tell us all about
it."

"Don't disclose email correspondence." Disclosing the facts is a breach
of privacy. Just give us your "interpretation". *Only* hearsay evidence
is allowed in Kangaroo Courts.
</RANT>

If you weren't in a bad mood before I rather hope you are now. . . :)

This I didn't understand.
Your first answer was : I don't know.
Your second was: NO COMMENT, followed by a description of your
early-training-in-legal-matters-at-my-father's-knee-handicap in relationship
with private communications and email. And you've been at the least a little
evasive in answering quetions about the 'issues', hence my question.

I'm presuming now that you got a: NO COMMENT from both Genna and SOS to your
question, please correct me if I'm wrong.

After some consideration I think I'll let you go for the Whitehouse and
Maine too if you want. However, since I live in Saskatchewan, I think I can
take out a lot of radar and missle bases, at least in Montana and most of
the Dakotas. I'll wait for a good wind out of the north and fire off puffed
wheat machines along the border. That shud screw things up just fine.
Considering wheat is way cheaper than bullits and we have a very good
supply we can hold out for a very long time. Quite sure I can get help from
Manitoba to look after their part of the border.
this seems to be as sensible as what is going on in the newsgroup these
days.

FYI, I asked some 'Guiding Light'-questions, out of curiosity about the
holes in the plot. That was a stupid thing to do. I apologize for my
contribution to the last episodes. I have to re-think my life and I need a
place to do that. Long hours, low wages, the works. Do you Canadians recrute
foreign volunteers ?
I'm willing to learn french.

Hold on now, GT Barnie! You do that and the cows won't have *anything* to
look at except vast empty spaces and some fence lines. I'm afraid I'd have
to call upon the powers of the prairie dogs to try to stop you at the border
in order to protect the 'sanity of the cows' (this *could* make a good South
Park episode).

I'll hire just about anyone. French isn't required, but if you know
Apache I can set you up down the road a ways with a fine young brave, er
bravette, I guess. We got a nice beach here with lots of fresh water so
you will be strip-searched when you leave,

I was taught that private means *private* - you do not communicate
*anything* about private communications - you should not even tell
people that there has been private communication.

Communications between a lawyer and a client, as well as private
communication between a doctor and his patient, is a very special case
and such rules cannot be applied to normal communications between
people.

A lawyer may apply special rules to _all_ his private communications if
he is very careful about his position in the society.

But in general there is no such rule for common people.

I could say that I met Steve yesterday and he said that and that. There
is no general rule that forbids me to tell others what Steve told me.

The same goes for emails and snail mail letters.

There are exceptions, of course, but in general there is no reason to
avoid to tell others about what somebody has told you or written to you.

No Apache, I'm in the 'about anyone'-category, very good at pointing south
and thinking north though.
G-spot 2.5 beta (codec information appliance) was the latest freeware I

Hey, Maine needs you guys to keep that water. We're getting good hydro-power
out of there.
Oh ya.. You guys were talking about Canada. I meant the sovereign country of
Quebec. Do you guys need passports to get to the Maritimes or what?
