startup problems

I have a HP computer running windows XP Pro and I was
wondering if there is a way to make the computer startup
normally like it does in the old window programs so I can
get to BIOS or is there another way to get to BIOS.
 
I have an HP laptop and when I startup it gives me an option to press F8
for startup options.I hope this helps.
