Startup Problems

Im using Xp Home Edition Sp2

I was running the Windows error check on my HDD and left it running. I
accidently switched my computer off while it was running.

I cannot boot windows anymore. The boot progress gets to the screen where
you have various boot options: safe mode, last known good configuration,
start windows normally.

Ive tried all the options, and it progresses half way through booting in the
certain mode and then the computer powers down and the progress starts all
over again to the same boot option screen.

Im not sure what i have done, i cant even contact Help and support because i
am unable to get my PID.

I hope you would be able to shed some light on what i have done.

Thanks

if you have a windows
cd, you can boot with
it and perform a repair
installation.

here is the info:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/doug92.mspx

there are other methods
available as well by using
the recovery console method
with the windows cd.

but the repair is a bit more
automated.

let us know how it turns out.
