I use XP Pro SP2. The function of searching for things takes up 2 letters.
If I click the start button and then press either the "c" key or the "f"
key, both actions bring up the search/find function. Is there a way to free
up one of those letters for use to bring up something else? I would prefer
to keep "f" to bring up the find function since ^f does that in so many
other places as well. But I would be satisfied to be given back one of the
two letters for my customization use.

Thank you for your help.

Click the start button, notice the underlined letter in Search? It's C. F
is underlined in For Files or Folders. The underlined letters indicate the
keyboard shortcut.
----

Right click the Desktop | Properties |
Appearance tab | Effects button |
UNCheck: Hide underlined letters for keyboard navigation until I press the
Alt key | OK |Apply | OK

[[Specifies whether to suppress the drawing of keyboard shortcuts (the
underlined characters in menus and controls) and input focus indicators (the
dotted rectangles around objects), until you actually start using the
keyboard to navigate in Windows, generally with the ALT, TAB, or arrow
keys.]]

This did not seem to do it for me.
