WinXP Home Edition
Error message as follows:
The file ialmkchw.sys on Intel Corp Installation Disk #1 is needed.
Searches on Intel and MS support no help.
Your help please,Richard

Have you run a sys search on the file name?
If its located in System32 folder it may be malaware.
The genuine file is located in System32\Drivers folder and is part of Intel
graphics mobo chip drivers.

Thanks for the help---A search of the computer does not find any
evidence of the file so I am wondering whether the game that was loaded
damaged or deleted the file.(the error message does request the Intel
disk #1).
Perhaps I should do another dheck on the Intel site ??
Kind regards.Richard

Thanks again for the help--much appreciated.
There actually proved to be two problems:
The request for the Intel disk was cured by downloading and installing
the latest drivers---I believe that the game that was loaded ,corrupted
the display drivers.
Then I had the "recovering from critical problem" with a request to
notify Micresoft of the problem.
Checking the details in the message revealed two files that were
involved.
After checking I found that the one file was not recognised by WinXp and
could not be opened so I deleted it.The other file was full of important
stuff so I just left it alone as the problem was solved.
Much relief all around,Richard

glad its ok
