Startup Delay

After logging into Windows into a Windows 2000 Server, the wonderful
Microsoft sound plays, the desktop wallpaper shows up but then no icons or
anything else for almost a minute. After that, everything seems to be
running EXTREMELY delayed. In trying to open My Computer, the network drives
seem to pop up quickly, but the local drives have the delay. There is also a
long delay anytime you try to access properties of almost any resource. This
is happening on different types of workstations with Windows 2000 (sp3) and
Windows XP Pro (sp1). It started suddently last week after we had several
electrical problems in our company. Any suggestions of where to start would
be greatly appreciated!

When nothing seems to happen, press escape, if needed once again. Maybe
problems related to the computers trying to connect to a domain controller
if any?

Greetings:
According to Symantec, this issue has been resolved, but,
I'm still experiencing a much delayed startup.
I have run LiveUpdate several times.
'Hope they fix it soon.
I've had several problems with NAV2003. A SymEvent
(driver) caused XP crashes. Fortunately, Microsoft Error
Report directed me to the source of the problem: Symantec.
It was easier for me to reformat and reinstall than to
follow Symantec's misleading instructions.
