Windows-Delayed Write Failed

I have a external harddrive and whenever i try and put a file, such as a movie
from my computer to the external harddrive,it seems like it works. But later
on it says "windows-Delayed Write Failed" on the bottom right of the
screen,sometimes popping up many times.

I went to KB Article Number(s): 908673 which is where i can download a
microsoft hotfix ,which has helped some people with this problem. But i get
the email, i download it and when im installing it ,it starts extracting and
an error comes up saying"The system cannot find the file specified".When that
happens the Windows Delayed write failed thing pops up again

Ive tried so much that people say what to do on the internet its becoming
very frustrating
I have windows xp

You need to check the Policies of the external hard drive. There
are two operating modes, Optimize for Quick Removal or the
Optimize for Speed. That 2nd mode enables Write Caching on
the drive. Most situations you'd want to use Quick Removal.

You should know that USB drives are slow. Most cannot reach
or exceed 30-Megabytes per Second transfer rates. Also if the
Root Hub is heavily loaded the drive's performance will suffer
even more.

USB is convenient, but not by any measure very fast. At least not
until the new USB 3.0 becomes available.
