Loading Windows as fast as possible

Hello,

I have a system that I'm configuring where the system needs to start
up as fast as possible.
I have unloaded everything from the startup items in MSCONFIG. Also,
this computer will not
participate on a network, so I've disabled several services:

Workstation
Computer Browser
DHCP Client
DNS Client
Help and Support
Network Connections
Network Location Awareness
Server
Print Spooler
Task Scheduler
TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper
Terminal Services
Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing
Windows Time
Wireless Zero Configuration

I have also changed the shell from explorer to a custom shell (the
program I want to execute). What I'm trying to eliminate is the delay
that occurs on the screen that shows:
"Loading Windows", right after the windows opening music is displayed.
There is about a 30 second delay that occurs. Is there a registry
setting somewhere that controls this delay?

Thanks for any help
Mike

Try "Hibernate" instead of Shut down. Restart time is like six seconds.

Hi Mike,

30 seconds after the "Loading Windows" dialog? Dang. From the BIOS
screen to a Desktop, my workstation loads in under 30 seconds, and that
includes PageDefrag. I've only got an AMD 3000+ w/2 gig RAM and a 512
Meg video card. But I've got three 7,200 rpm drives; OS's on one,
programs on another, and data on another.

Try changing the XP Theme and use Classic. Disable any other display
"features".

Download Autoruns and see almost everything that is loading. Just be
careful what you uncheck unless you know what you're doing.
