OT maybe: Kaspersky shutdown delay

K

KenK

Using XP Home & Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 there is a 5+ minute delay
after shutting the computer down any time I have been on the net more than
a few minutes. I had the same problems with previous Kaspersky versions.

This is very annoying. Anyone have any suggestions? I looked at Google a
few times with no success - so I may be alone.

Did not try contacting Kaspersky - such efforts have not been useful with
various manufacturers in the past. I may end up changing to another
security ap when this one runs out.

TIA

Your mention of it "running out" suggests it is something you've paid
for; as such, I'd expect you to get service, and pronto. Especially if
you bought it direct, not from a shop/dealer.

To give you some indication, opinion polls suggest that people who
passionately hate or love country [music] are utterly indifferent to Marmite.

Have you installed this ? UPHClean.

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=6676

Typically, on a new install, shutdown is quick, until the user
downloads the video card driver from NVidia or ATI, and then
for some reason, shutdown takes a lot longer.

I don't know if your symptoms are similar, but I've had to use
UPHClean before.

UPHClean is rolled into the later OSes, so is not needed if say,
Windows 8 won't shut down fast.

More info here. Suggests checking Event Viewer.
