hey, Hey, HEY!

I've finally been able to isolate the problem with my slow startup.
The service Remote Access Connection Manager causes a delay of at
least 2 minutes. Unfortunately, this service is essential for my
internet connection.

Any idea how to reinstall the service?

thanks, mike

Hi Mike,

Start/run services.msc, you will find it about two-thirds of the way down.
Simply double-click it, you can "start" the service, and set the startup
type to automatic.

Hey,

Thanks for the reply... I've set the service so that it is Automatic
but the computer still takes forever when booting... what I'm looking
to do is extract/reinstall whatever files are used for the Remote
Access Connection Manager service using my XP cd... setting the way
the service starts has no effect; the service appears to be severly
fragmented/corrupt/whatever... I wanna reinstall the service so it
doesn't take several minutes to use my computer after my desktop
appears.

Any ideas?

thanks, mike

Hi Mike,

Stop the service, set the startup type to "disabled". Reboot. Restart the
service, where does this get you? If the delay is still there after the
restart, then this is not the problem.
