After problems trying to automatically download SP2 I downloaded it
manually.

I can't figure out how to install it.

Any ideas?

TIA

--Navigate to the directory you have chosen to put the downloaded Service
Pack 2.
--The file name should be "WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe"
--Double click to execute the file

The icon I click puts all the files in a 'i386' folder.

How do I get it work from there?

TIA

RedZed:
You don't actually have to do anything or navigate to any directory or
folder. All you need to do in order to install SP2 is to double click the
SP2 executable file you have downloaded from the Internet.

"All you need to do in order to install SP2 is to double click the SP2
executable"
And to do that it may be necessary to navigate to the download location
depending where the OP had it downloaded.

What is the name of the icon?
Exactly where did you download it from?

And I clearly posted that in my FIRST post. Go to the place where you
downloaded the file and double click on it. Simple as that. I "assumed" the
OP did that correctly and was now wondering what the i386 directory is. I
replied back saying that he did NOT have to worry about it if he wants to
simply install Service Pack 2.
If you are going to correct me on this simple issue, then I can clearly say
that you did not also mention in your first post that the OP needs to
NAVIGATE to the place he placed/downloaded the SP2 file/icon.

Problem Solved!!!

I had malawre and adware infestations that wouldn't allow the SP2 package to
self install.

Thanks to you all anyway.

Interesting....Glad you got it fixed. I would have never thought that it had
something to do with malware and adware.
