SP2 install error

Sp2 has been downloaded from MS site. Trying to install
the update produces the following error:

Service Pack 2 Setup error
Unable to read from or write to the database
Error code: 0x800710D9

Searching for the error code produces no help. SP2
is sitting on my disk. If I try to download it again,
I can't because it says already downloaded. Any help
greatly appreciated or this little laptop will continue
to run on Sp1. TIA
