Question about Windows XP-SP 3 update

Don't laugh now... but what do you think would happen if I tried to
install this update... at this late date?

Would XP blow up? Any serious advice...? I am using XP-SP2 now.

I have finally found something in it, that I may need for my DVR to
operate correctly.

You commit major surgery on your software, operating system, or
hardware without first performing an image backup? If not, what else
is your escape plan to undo your actions?

Burn a CD from the .iso and see what happens when you install SP3 and
then let us know.

If you're using a HP AMD chip there might be problems?

Have you been able to take other XP updates without SP3 because then I'm
not sure what would happen.

ROTFL!!! I have a Gateway AMD Turion, and after reading the info at
the link you provided, I have been sufficiently scared off of this
idea. I had great reservations to begin with. Thanks for helping me
make up my mind!

I've chickened out, and decided this isn't worth the risk, and or
trouble... but thanks for your response.
