I have been trying to start 2000 professional in safe mode
and have been unsuccessful. I try the F8 key when
starting but doesn't work. I have have wireless keyboard
maybe that has something to do with it. don't know. I
have been trying to find out how to get the prompt to
start windows in safe mode. I go to start. Then to
restart. then the comuter just restarts it doesn't ask me
if I want to restart in safe mode. sorry if this is a
dumb question. I thought it would be easy myself.

Here is something else you can try. Insert a non-bootable floppy disk in
the floppy disk drive and then restart your computer. When you receive the
"Non-System disk or disk error, replace and strike any key when ready" error
message, REMOVE the non-bootable floppy disk from the drive. Press the F8
key TWICE. This may get you to the startup menu. It used to work in
Win98 for me, anyway.

Is your keyboard plugged into USB or PS-2 port?

If plugged into USB, move it to PS-2 using the adapter that came with the
keyboard.

Mine is plugged into the PS-2 port :)
