When I turn on my computer I get to the Windows XP user screen and click on
my "personal account" icon. It then takes ages before the desktop appears
(about 2-3 minutes). Once the desktop appears the icons in the notification
area pop up rapidly and the desktop is ready. Why is there such a delay
between clicking on my account icon and the desktop appearing and what can I
do about it?

MAny thanks for the help

Hi

What kind of programs have you got loading at startup?

VNC server Google desktop, Windows messenger, Norton antivirus, Exif
Launcher, Brother printer - these are all the icons in the notification area
- is this what you wanted to know? If not - how do I find out what programs
are loading at statup

Hi

They will take some time to load. Windows Messenger doesn't need to be
loaded, nor your printer. Not sure what Exif Launcher is? Any Norton
product is a memory hog!!

Hi

Messenger inside the program under options/preferences. The same for the
printer.
