start up problems on xp

When I boot my PC up I experience black out following memory test. this
prevents me veiwing my desk top (GUI) Its operating as normal but I
cannot view the anything.
 
I don't understand what you mean by operating normally if you cannot see
anything. Does the screen remain black? Have you had a technician test the
memory for you?
