Start-up Duplication

I had to re-install WinXP SP1 in a new directory named
WinXP. After the installation I deleted the old
directory "Windows".

Now the items in the Start-up Directory of the Start Menu
attempt to load twice. Running MSConfig shows the items
listed under "Common Start-up" and "Start-up". Disabling
the items under one of these two listings causes both to
be disabled and nothing loads.

How do I physically delete these items from Start-up and
then re-enter them so they only start once.

More than likely using registry editor.
Two locations exist for XP in the registry.
Rather than detail it, use search in the registry.
One location is hkey local machine\software\microsoft\windows\current
version\run
I did that from memory.
The other location is nearly identical but has shared folders or similar in
the pathway.
