Start Menu Question

Hi,

New XP user.
Must be doing something wrong, but can't figure out what.

I have a shortcutr on my desktop.
I select it with the left mouse button, and drag it to the START button, and
release it.

But, when i go to START/All Programs, it's not there.

What am I doing wrong ? (I also tried the right mouse button; same
results)

I should definitely mention that I already have this shortcut Pinned to the
Start menu. I would however Also like it on the right hand side of the page
where it shows all the programs.

Is this the problem in that you can't have both; I thought that you could ?
(If I select the Pinned shortcut from the pinned-menu on the left, and
try to drag it to the right hand side, the right hand
side of the page immediately disappears)

How do I do this, please ?

Thanks,
Bob

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs

Try copying and pasting it into that path.

Bob,

The reason why you are not getting anything in the Programs menu is when you
drag a shortcut to the "START" button the shortcut is put into the Start
Menu. As Lee rightly put you will have to copy the shortcut/file to
"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs" in order for you to
get it in the Program Files menu.

Hope this helps,

Ben

Hi,

Much thanks; really appreciate it.
That's the hint I was looking for.

Happy holidays.
