Missing folder context menu

D

Don1500

System XP Home edition SP2,1 Gig RAM at 2000hz, 200Gig HD
When using Windows Explorer, folders on left hand side of explorer window
are ok [Expand command],while folders on right hand side have lost Explore
command from context menu.
Anyone know how to replace this?

Thanks
Don

If you select one and left click it, is the folder then expanded into the
right pane?

Yes - folders and subfolders when listed on left hand side are expanded into
right hand side with left click, and also data files within folder. So not a
major problem, just annoying - but I do have a limited number of folders that
won't expand fromleft hand side, and I would like to see what's in them.
Is this a registry issue?

No, that wasn't my question. If you select a folder that shows in the
*right* hand window and left click after selecting, is the folder then
expanded in the right pane? If not, what happens?

If I click on folder in right hand pane it brings up top option in context menu "Scan with Spybot S&D". Previous top option of "Explore" has disappeared.

I understood that from your OP. What I'm *trying* to determine is what
happens if you select a folder that shows in
the right hand window and *left* click after selecting it. Are you saying
you get a context menu after left clicking it? Please, forget all about
context menus for the moment...

Thanks - this restored explore to context menu. However it is not top item -
anyway to get it back on top so double click activates explore and not search?

Thanks

Maybe you need to fix your folder registry settings.

Folder Association Fix (Restore default associations for File Folders)

You might need this one, too:

Control Panel
Folder Options
File Types tab

Scroll down to "Folder"
Click "Advanced"
Highlight "explore"
Click "Set Default"

OK your way out.
