I activate Explore after right clicking Start. Here is the issue:
I try to change the "read-only" property on certain folders to no avail.
Certain folders have a "grey" check in the read only box under properties.
When I select it , there seems to be three values:
1. grey check mark
2. black check mark
3. blank
What does the grey chck mean?

When I do change the floder's property from a grey check to a blank, it asks
if iI wish to apply this setting to all sub-folders. i respond yes and it
seems to do something. Yet when I return to it the property is the same.
(individual files in the folder allow me to change the property) (sub-floders
in the main folder do not allow me to change the property.
Any help would be appreciated.

It means it doesn't matter. The "readonly" check box is immaterial.
Don't worry about it any more.
