Standby problem

When I select standby from the turnoff computer dialog window on my XP Pro
SP1 machine, it shutsdown the computer rather than going into standby mode.
The power shutsdown, cycles back on momentarily, and then off again for
good.

Any ideas what may be causing t his problem?

Your BIOS probably needs to be updates to a better version of the ACPI (S3,
standby) feature.
