Standby mode

While I was using my laptop tonight I either hit a key or did something, but
the computer went into a standby mode, and I don;t know how to get to come
alive again. I have hit every key, and the finger board, but nothing brings
it back................can someone give me some advice, besides shutting it
down? I was putting data in to an access database, and it has not been saved
yet?

Hello,

Maybe I am too late, but plug the laptop to a direct power supply and hit
the power button to resume the laptop from standby.

Note that the laptop should have some indication that it is in a standby
like a blinking power LED or sleep LED.
