Standby mode is shaded and unclickable

All of a sudden, when I try to put my pc in standby mode, it will not let me.
I click start - turn off computer - then a window with these options comes
up...standby, turn off, restart. I still have those options however, the
standby mode is shaded and I am unable to click on it. Any help you could
give me to fix this problem would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Thanks so much for this link! I ended up having to restore my Operating
System to a Previous State. I restored it to 1 week ago (about when this
problem occured), and standby is working again. Someone in my family must
have downloaded something...not sure what but, I think it's gone now.
Anyway, so glad my standby mode works again! Thanks again for your help!!!
