WHEN I USE THE SHUT DOWN SEQUENCE (EITHER STANDBY OR
HIBERNATION ) IT WILL ONLY LAST FOR A FEW MINUTES
AND THEN IT RESTARTS UP BY ITSELF.

I HAVE WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL SP1
HOPE SOMEONE HAS AN ANSWER

The Wake On LAN (WOL) feature of your network device is
active. Therefore, it turns the machine right back on.
You may be able to turn it off through the device's
Properties dialog box in Network Connections.

P.S. Don't type in all caps. IT LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE
SHOUTING.

After reading your message, I went to networking on my Compaq Presario,
because my computer does not hibernate either. However, I could not find your
Wake on Lan as you mentioned inyour reply to Gary.
