I am thinking of installing spybot search and destroy.

Is this a safe program to use with Win2k pro? Does the
operating of spybot do any damage to the operating system
or other programs I might be running, such as, microsoft
office or zone alarm or norton system utilities, etc?

I would appreciate any and all input.

Thanks Much!

I've run Spybot S&D on W98, W2k, and XP without any problems. Don't use
Zone Alarm so can't speak to issues with that, but no problems with the
other applications you listed.

I use spybot on win 2k and win me. Excellent program. No problems. actually
catches and removes spyware. Highly recommended.

I run Spybot S&D regularly on my Win2K system with Office 200 and
ZoneAlarm. I've never seen is cause a problem with the operating system
or any other program. I can't speak to the Norton stuff because I
wouldn't go near it under any circumstances, but I'd be astonished if
there were a problem there.

The only complaint I have about Spybot is that it is slow to load and
takes much longer to scan my system than Ad-Aware does. It rarely finds
anything that Ad-Aware hasn't detected, so I use Spybot only once a week
or when I suspect that something might be amiss.

Different experiences for different folks. Spybot takes very little time to
load on my system and, because I have Ad-Aware set up to scan all drives,
also takes less time to run. It also finds stuff that Ad-Aware misses.

But neither one finds much, because I run a tight ship. :)

I always use both.

I run both AdAware and Spybot. Each can find something that the
other does not.
I too use both..

Walter,
Thanks for your input. I think I'm going to give it a try.
