Spybot Anti-Beacon

I am, like most people, wary of companies spying on all of my online activity to glean my personal info.
I saw the post re Spybot Anti-Beacon and wondered if this was also safe to use. I did use Spybot search and destroy some years ago but was warned about that - is the beacon product safe?
I also watched a good deal of the 'Barnacules' video which made everything look quite alarming - his solutions looked quite complex, not so much in the individual detail but in the volume of measures to take.
Anybody got some constructive comments to make things a bit more simple?
What's the general consensus?

Just turn off everything in the privacy settings within Win 10 if you're really that worried. Anti Beacon can and will break things its not intended to.

I too used it for a short while a few years back but found all sorts of problems developed on my PC. All the problems disappeared when I uninstalled it.

I use Spybot Anti-Beacon, I have no 'problems' with it.

Another solution to Microsoft phone-home antics, use another OS.

You can just turn off stuff in settings.
