Spoolsv.exe and a 100k+ Handle Count

i have a group of HP BusinessJet 1100 printers. i have updated to the latest printer driver from HP, which claims to have fixed an issue with resource utilization. Microsoft also claim to have fixed an increasing handle count issue with the spoolsv.exe after win2kSP1, however, my machines are still having an increasing handle count. I can clear it by restarting the spool service but as the machines are out at customers sites i wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar?
