Spoolsv.exe consuming about 40% CPU on both processors.

Need some help....

I have Windows 2000 SP4 running on an HP proliant DL380 G3. It has 2
P4 HT processors. While in Task Manager all four processors show about
60% usage. When I look at processes, spoolsv.exe is continuously at
about 40%.

1. I've tried restarting the spool service, but in about 10 minutes it
goes right back to 40%.
2. There are no errors in the event viewer, nothing in regards to
printing or the spooler service.
3. There are 4 printers shared from server. I removed one at a time
(thinking it was a possible driver issue) with no change. spoolsv.exe
still at 40%
4. I've checked the Microsoft site and only found one article that
sort of resembles my issue, however, the article was based on a windows
2000 terminal server.

Any help would be great.... Thanks,

Try to emty to spool folder. Maybe there are old jobs in there. Usually when
restarting the spool service but the CPU% is still high, it can often help
to emty the spoolfolder also.

We are having the same problem. CPU usage of spoolsv.exe
on a file/print server bounces between 40-60% CPU. When
spoolsv.exe crashes we empty the spool folder before
restarting the service, but the CPU remains at high
usage. Even restarting the server doesn't resolve the
high cpu usage. Any other suggestions?
