Splash Error...going crazy

A long time ago I installed Age of Empires 3. It worked fine and everything
but lately i was getting annoyed with the choppy and slow display of the
online play. So i decided to uninstall and install the game because I
thought that may fix it. However when i uninstalled it, it wouldnt install
back onto my comp.! No matter what i did!...So I restored The computer to
the day i uninstalled it and NOW when i click the game to play a pop up comes
and says "error: unable to find splash resources"... and then nothing
happens. i have no idea what that means but today i have been trying to fix
it for about 8 hours straight. At first i just wanted to play, but now it
has become a personal matter between me and the game and if this stress
continues i may end up damaging my computer.. So if anyone could help me i
would appreciate it soo much,

Step C might be the solution to your issue...
Here's how to uninstall a game when using Add-Remove programs fails:

Step A: Start your computer in Safe Mode by holding down the F8 key.

Step B: Reinstall the game to the same folder it was installed to originally,
and then try to uninstall it again using Add-Remove programs. If
that fails, delete it's folder and any save games in My Documents.

Step C: Install and Run Regcleaner and if it finds any stray registry keys for the
