My spellcheck doesn't work in word 07. I can type laksdjflkjsl and it doesn't
catch it. It is set to check spelling automatically- nothing happens. It does
catch grammar though. Any suggestions? I have no clue what to do. I even
reinstalled the program.

In Word 2007:
1. Open a document that has this problem, press Ctrl+A to select all
of the text
2. Click on Review tab | Proofing: Set Language | <choose your
language> | uncheck the "Detect language automatically" and "Do not
check spelling or grammar" boxes | Default | OK.
3. Click on Office Button | Word Options | Proofing | check the
"Check spelling as you type" and "Check grammar with spelling" boxes |
uncheck the "Hide spelling errors in this document only" and "Hide
grammar errors in this document only" boxes | OK.

In your Windows registry, if the key
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Proofing
Tools\1.0\Override" exists, delete it.

Hi Ket,

Have you restarted the PC?

What font are you using for your text?

When you have selected the text and in Set language chosen English and turned off the two check boxes at the bottom does the
language you choose does the language you choose have the 'abc'+checkmark symbol next to it (for installed speller)? Did you click
the 'Default' button.

If you go to the Word Options=>Add in sections
(Alt, T, O, A, A) and scroll the add-in list are there any items listed in the 'Disabled Application Add-ins' list?

If not, restart Word in safe mode (hold ctrl key when starting Word) to see if you still have a speller problem when you type text
in a new blank document.
