Spellchecker not working at all

I have been using Microsoft Word 2003 but the spellchecker does not work at
all. I press the button, the office assistant tells me the check is complete
even if I deliberately miss-spell words. How can I enable it to function
correctly?

CTRL+A > Tools > language > set language - to the language for which you
have a dictionary - uncheck the two boxes in that dialog.
