I was just wondering if there is a spell check for
wordpad or notepad. I can't find one, but sure could use
one. I miss my word processor from 98! :(

Thank you.

Went to suggest site. It says it doesn't support word 97
or later. Using XP pro. Will it still work?

Thanks for the information.

No, Wordpad and Notepad are really text editors, not word processors, and as such don't have full word processing capabilities and tools like spell checkers.

However there may be third-party spellcheckers that work with them.

Neither Windows 98 nor any other version of Windows has ever come with a word processor. If your Windows 98 machine had one, it was because your vendor chose to bundle one as part of the package he offerred.

Just as with Windows 98, you can buy and install almost any word processor of your choice on Windows XP. There are many choices available: for example, Microsoft Word, Corel WordPerfect, StarOffice, or the freeware OpenOffice.

You're very welcome. However, in your first post you asked about w/pad &
n/pad. No mention of Word '97. These are different issues. The w&n/pads from
www.cetussoft.com do function with XP. I have them myself with XP Home. As
for Word '97, it's part of the MS Office '97suite and is way up the ladder
from the basic Windows w&n/pads and quite a few rungs above the Cetus
w&n/pads as well.
Was the Office '97 suite on a separate cd with your Win98 computer? If so,
(I'm doubtful about this), you might be able to install Office '97 on your
XP box, but it's very, very long shot at best.

Thanks Curt.

I'm sorry for the confusion. I don't understand the
different OS very well. I am running XP (no MS Office). I
just didn't understand the website very well.

Even with all the confusion I caused, you still managed
to answer my question. Thank you very much :D.
