spell check misses the small letter i when it stands alone

I had this issue once before on a different PC and it was XP not Vista, and
got tech support but forgot how to fix it. My spell check in e-mail works
fine except misses the letter I standing alone. Tech support took me
somewhere (in WORD I think) and we found this box that had the small letter i
in it and was not supposed to have anything in it. Spelling rules or
something. We removed it and it then worked fine.
I wish I was more help with explaining it but hope someone might have an
idea to help me. Thanks.

UserDictionary.lex is a plain-text file which stores the list of words
added. Remove the misspelled word that you accidentally added. Make sure
that there are no blank lines left by these deletions. Save the file and
close Wordpad
