spell check does not work, only word 97 is available

I have windows XP and can not get spell check on outlook express to work. It
works in Word 97 and MS Works, I have no other office programs installed. I
have tried the issue identified in article 224176 but sharedfilesdir does not
exist as per the article. I have re installed on reformated C disk C. Any
other suggestions

are you showing hidden files and folders and system folders? enable the
option in Windows Explorer's tools, options and look for the folder again.

Thanks, I have found the folder and it is correct i.e that is not problem in
my case.
