Here is part of an answer to a question about speeding up XP.
"Instead, try to speed up XP. Right-click the My Computer icon, select
Properties, click the Advanced tab, go to the Performance section and click
Settings.
Choose the setting that says "Adjust for best performance" or use the Custom
setting to remove all XP's power-hungry visual effects."
If I right click My Computer/Properties/Advanced, I see a window that is
totally greyed out and with only two tabs, neither of which is Advanced.
There are two check boxes, nothing about Performance and neither of which I
can check.
Do other XP Pro users see the same as me?
If I go Start/My Computer, I can click on View System Information in the
System Tasks window and another window opens with seven tabs, one of which
is Advanced. If I click on this, a Performance tab is visible which I can
adjust.
But, why isn't the Advanced tab visible when I right click on the desktop My
Computer icon?
Thanks.
