Win XP Pro SP3

At the suggestion of someone on the Windows newsgroup:

My Computer | Properties | Advanced | Visual Effects |
Adjust for best performance
Then check:
Smooth edges of screen fonts
smooth scrool of list boxes

Computer Management | Indexing Services
I just cancelled everything. I do not understand what this
is about.
I use "C:\Program Files\Mythicsoft\Agent
Ransack\AgentRansack.exe" to search for files or whatever.

Shut off System Restore. If there is a problem, I'll restore
from the image on my external hard disk.

Computer is now fast again as it should!

Not a bad link and looks OK, but ... there are more trustworthy places to
get such information, including at Microsoft. Besides, his post already
indicates success and that it's "as it should". On
http://support.microsoft.com/search... xp&catalog=LCID=1033&mode=r&spid=1173&range=
near the bottom appears applicable if further info is needed, plus there
area a round 1700 other symptoms in case that doesn't fit.

Often you'll find excellent advice on a newsgroup.
Before you use that advice though, consider the
ramifications of it being wrong or even dangerous;
how important IS that to you?
ALWAYS verify and confirm ANY advice from a
newsgroup!

hover in quantum indecision forever.
