Speed very slow

I am using p4 processor with 2.8 gz of speed and 1 gb of ram, 140 gb HD.
vista installs but every time i restart the computer it takes 2-3 minutes to
load windows, progrmas also run very slow. pls tell how can i improve it

Go to start - welcome centre. Click on more details then click on System
performance rating. Here you can see if drivers or software or anything
else are causing a problem. You might find that incompatible drivers are
causing a slow boot.

Stick int he XP installation CD and instal XP. Don't reinstall Vista
until it is released sometime at the end of the year.

Two other possibilities are the indexer is running to index the drives
(especially after initial install) and the disk defragmenter is running.
Both have negative impact on system performance...
