SP4 Causes blue screen

R

Richard Taylor

I have a Dell laptop with Win2k sp2 on it.
When I install sp4 and restart the system goes into a
loop. While it is starting up the system blue screens and
reboots. I enter safe mode and uninstall sp4 to restore
system operation.
The system log shows an Event ID 1001.

I had a simmilar problem after installing SP4. After much
work rebuilding the machine I found out that my digital
camera drivers didn't support any SP after 2, but 3
worked. I looked for a new driver but the newest one was 3
years old. My advice, check your devices and see if their
drivers support service pack 4.
