SP3 - FAILURE TO INSTALL

having problems with this - have followed all the advice in the attached link

to no success - always fails about 2/3s ofway through

svcpack.log shows

DoRegistryUpdates:UpdSpInstallFromInfSection Failed for
ProductInstall.GlobalRegistryChanges.Install error: 0x5
2981.687: INF_REGISTRY Failed
2981.687: DoInstallationoRegistryUpdates failed
2999.969: Unregistration of sprecovr successful
3000.547: Access is denied.

What do I do next?

What do I do next?

Support - Free unlimited installation and compatibility support is available
for Windows XP, but only for Service Pack 3 (SP3), until 14 Apr-09. Chat
and e-mail support is available only in the United States and Canada.

What do I do next?

Install the full service pack while in Safe Mode. You'll likely have
better luck since things like antivirus, etc. won't be running to
interfere. The system is in a more pure state.
