Nate

I got the message that SP2 was ready for me. I clicked
on Next and the window closed and the globe icon
disappeared. There is no network activity either. Any
thoughts?

Nate, the same thing has happened to me as well. I tried updating my computer
and also my mom's computer. It says that I have updates ready for my
computer, I click it, and I choose to Download XP SP2. The window disappears
and so does the "Windows Update" globe down in the Task Bar. Any help would
be gladly appreciated.

Same thing for me. I've sent Microsoft an email asking for
assistance. I'll post their reply if and when I get it.

I've e-mailed microsoft, but so far no new e-mails. Glad to know I'm not only
one with this problem.

You two may have the AWU option set to notify before
downloading. NOw you just need to wait for the download
to complete and you will be notified again, this time to
install. You are doing it right, just more steps.

I've been waiting for two days and have restarted several times since.
Nothing, the icon isn't there. Just nothing, I'm downloading Windows XP
Service Pack 2 Network Installation Package for IT Professionals and
Developers. By the way, is it the same as the AU SP2 just bigger???

Ben;
I was just informed this seems only to be an issue when you select
"Notify me..." in Automatic Update and they are working on it.
Select the other Automatic Update option and see if it works.
Right click My Computer
Click Properties
Click Automatic Update tab
Select "Automatic Recommended"
Click OK and follow prompts

I just downloaded and installed the SP2 for IT Professionals. It is working
fine so far. Thanks again though. :o)
