I am running XP home edition. hit the auto update in the tray, went through
the process, hit the button to restart to complete the download, now my
computer wont start. goes through the boot process, flashes a blue screen
with some text on it, then restarts again.
wont start in safe mode, wont go back to last known settings.

any suggestions?

Post the text. Without the error code, determining what is wrong will be
very difficult.

Did you verify that your computer is ready for the SP2 installation before
you embarked on this very involved update?
Did you make a backup of the system before you embarked on this very
involved update?

Jim,

I am having the same exact problem, yet there IS NO ERROR MESSAGE.

Instead, the system "half boots" then tries to reboot, and eventually brings
me to the screen where I can choose from three different Safe modes. Only
the regular Safe Mode works, not the Safe with networking or the other one
which I don't recall off hand now.

In Safe mode, I can uninstall SP2, and my SP1 version works fine.
